Questions parents ask

How much does overnight newborn care cost?

Jackie discusses rates at the initial consultation. She quotes each family directly, based on how many nights a week you book, how many weeks you want help, and whether you have one baby or more. Tell her what you're picturing and she'll give you a clear number before anything is booked.

How many nights a week do families book?

It depends on what you need. Some families want help every night in the early weeks. Others book a couple of nights a week so each parent gets a real night of sleep. One family Jackie cared for had her a couple of nights per week for the first month or so. You pick the nights when you book.

What's the difference between a Newborn Care Specialist, a night nanny, a "night nurse" and a postpartum doula?

A Newborn Care Specialist is a caregiver trained specifically in newborns: feeding, sleep, soothing and the first months of development. That's Jackie.

A night nanny is a general term for anyone who cares for a baby overnight. Training varies a lot.

"Night nurse" is what many families call overnight baby help, but strictly that title belongs to licensed medical professionals. Jackie isn't one, and she doesn't give medical care.

A postpartum doula focuses more on the parent: recovery, rest, meals and emotional support, usually during the day.

When should we book?

As soon as you have a due date. Jackie is one person and can only be in one nursery a night, so earlier gives you a better chance of the nights you want. If your baby is already here, reach out anyway.

What does a night with Jackie look like?

Jackie arrives at the start of the shift and you tell her how the day went. You go to bed. She handles feeds, burping, diapers, soothing and settling, and she writes down what happens. In the morning she walks you through the night.

What does Jackie need from us?

A safe place for your baby to sleep, set up the way the AAP recommends. Feeding supplies ready, whether that's bottles, formula or pump parts. Diapers and a change of clothes nearby. And your plan: how you feed, how you want to be woken, and anything your pediatrician has told you. She'll ask about all of it before the first night.

Does Jackie care for twins or multiples?

Ask her. Two babies at night is a different rhythm, and she'll talk through what that looks like for your family. Rates are discussed at the initial consultation.

Can Jackie help if we're breastfeeding?

Yes. Breastfeeding support is part of what she does. At night she brings your baby to you to feed, then takes care of burping, changing and settling so you can go back to sleep. If you're pumping, she can prepare bottles and clean the parts. For a medical feeding question, she'll point you to your pediatrician or a lactation consultant.

What happens at the morning handoff?

You get a written log of the night: feeds, diapers, sleep and anything she noticed. Jackie talks you through it so you start the day knowing how your baby did. The feeding supplies she used are already clean.

Will my baby bond with Jackie instead of me?

No. In Jackie's words: "I'm not there to replace your instincts as a parent. I'm there to support you as you learn your baby and your baby learns you." She works nights so you can be rested for the hours you're awake with your baby.

Does Jackie offer virtual infant sleep consultations?

Yes. Not every family needs overnight care. Coach Jackie offers virtual infant sleep consultations for families who want personalized support from the comfort of their own home. They may include reviewing your baby's current sleep and feeding rhythms, discussing naps, wake windows and bedtime routines, and developing a personalized sleep plan for your family.

Sleep consultation services are educational in nature and are not a substitute for medical advice.

Ms. Rachel

Ms. Rachel offers engaging early-learning content supporting areas such as language development, communication, songs, movement and early childhood learning.

Jackie's Tip

Don't be afraid to join in. Sing the songs, repeat the words and interact with your little one. The screen can introduce the experience, but the connection between you and your child is where so much of the learning happens.

Circle Time With Ms. Monica

Early-childhood educator Monica J. Sutton offers preschool-focused learning through letters, numbers, colors, shapes, phonics, songs and other foundational concepts.

Jackie's Tip

Use what your child watches as a starting point for learning away from the screen. If they're learning colors, look for those colors around the house. If they're practicing letters, find those letters together throughout the day.
